I love photographing Central Park weddings, and this Bethesda Terrace wedding really shows why. Nestled at the heart of Central Park, Bethesda Terrace holds some of the park’s most iconic architecture: Milton tile ceiling from the 1860s, carved sandstone, and painted murals adorning the interior of the Arcade. Add to it a perfectly styled couple and their bridal party, and you have perfection.

New Yorkers Alisa and CJ had originally planned a destination wedding in Jamaica this year, but with Covid, they pivoted and decided on getting married locally in style. With Jimmy Choos on her feet and lush bouquet in hand, the bride had a private first look with the groom at the hotel, then we all headed uptown to Central Park.

Even with the brisk September morning air, their Central Park wedding went off without a hitch. We found a private nook of the Arcade to ourselves, and set amongst the painted walls, the couple said their vows with a dozen close family and friends watching. Afterward, the couple and I visited a few additional iconic spots in the park and SoHo to round out that classic New York feeling.

It definitely wasn’t their original plan — but for a pandemic micro wedding, I’d say it couldn’t have been more beautiful.
