We’ve looked at tons of wedding photography in New York. What’s your style?

During your search, you’ve probably noticed some trends: dark and moody, light and airy, editorial, candid, and everything in between. As a former journalist turned wedding photographer, my storytelling leanings have carried over from written word to visual art. My style is documentary, capturing your wedding day as it naturally unfolds — a little more candid, a little less posed — all with an eye for those ear-to-ear grins, belly laughs and quiet moments of meaning. I like to work with couples to learn their backstory and personalities, then collaborate on a visual concept that’s tailored to you.

What experience can we expect with you?

I am a full-service boutique NYC wedding photographer, meaning I help my couples every step of the way along the wedding planning and photography process. Believe me — photography shouldn’t be the stressful part!

1. Reach out. First, contact me with a few introductory pieces of information, like your event date and what you’re envisioning.

2. Coffee or Zoom date. If I have availability, we’ll schedule a time to meet in person (or, if you’re not in the area, we can set up a video chat via FaceTime, Zoom or Skype) and talk more fully about your wedding and how I can help make it happen. Here you’ll be also be able to really see and feel the quality of the albums and prints, as well as see all the customization options.

3. The event. After the contract and deposit are executed, the date is all yours! I’ll reach out a few weeks before the event to re-confirm details, but in the meantime, I am 100% reachable by phone or email. I can also refer you to hair and makeup artists, florists, officiants and more, should you need vendor recommendations. I’m also more than happy to assist in crafting your wedding day schedule, as every wedding is different in how long it might take for family portraits, getting ready or ceremony length. On the day-of, I’ll photograph your wedding as planned.

4. Customization session. We’ll schedule another date about 6-8 weeks after the wedding to review your images and see what works best for your albums and prints. Your chosen artwork will be shipped directly to you or the gift recipient.

What do we get?

All wedding and engagement packages include edited, high-resolution digital images, printable up to 8″x12.” Images are delivered in an online gallery, ready for you to download and share with family and friends.

Wedding photography in New York - custom wedding albumDigital photos are great for social media, but what about prints and albums?

I agree that your images deserve to be showcased, either on a wall or in an album. I offer beautiful custom-designed premium wedding albums, handmade with archival materials like Italian leathers and European linens. There are tons of options to make it uniquely yours, including choice of cover material, paper and name debossing. Fine art prints are also available in a variety of sizes, or can be custom framed for wall art or a ready-to-hang gift. All prints are museum quality, and come with a lifetime guarantee from yellowing or fading. Albums and prints can be shipped directly to non-local family members.

How many photos will we receive?

An 8-hour wedding will usually result in an estimated 600-1,000 digital photos, all edited, high-resolution and printable up to 8″x12″. However, there’s no maximum number on images — if there’s a good one taken, it will be in your final gallery. Photos will be delivered electronically in an online gallery, ready for sharing and downloading.

Can I choose to have black and white photos instead of color?

You don’t have to choose — you get both! I shoot in color, and during post-processing I convert suitable photos to black and white for added effect, and you’ll get both versions in the gallery. If you have a special affinity for black and white, definitely let me know; I can absolutely convert more photos to suit your aesthetic.

Do you shoot outer borough or destination weddings?

Absolutely. I’ve lived 15+ years in the NYC area, the majority of which were spent in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I’ve photographed weddings all over the city, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey and destination weddings in the U.S. and abroad. I am more than happy to travel.

We’re planning to get married in NYC, but we don’t live in the area. How can we meet?

I love meeting couples in-person, as it’s the best way to get to know each other’s styles and collaborate on great concepts. However, if you are out-of-town, there’s nothing to worry about — Skype and FaceTime to the rescue! Just as we’d sit down over coffee in the city, we can video chat and see if it’s a match.

Do you work with a second photographer?

To make sure your big day is remembered the way it should be, I strongly recommend a second shooter for all weddings with more than 125 guests, and require a second shooter for more than 150 to make sure we don’t miss a thing. A second photographer is included in some wedding packages, or can be added to any smaller package for an additional cost.

Can we add hours after we’ve booked you?

Absolutely. I know that sometimes things come up — the cake is later than expected, or you’ve planned fireworks at midnight — so I’m flexible. Additional hours can be purchased in advance or on the fly the day-of — the most important thing is that every part of your big night is captured, so just ask and we’ll work something out.

Do you photograph elopements or City Hall weddings?

Yes! I love shooting NYC elopements and City Hall weddings, and have special packages for these unique types of weddings. See my step-by-step guide to City Hall weddings and NYC elopements.

Do you photograph same-sex weddings?

Yes, my personal view is that love is love. Some of my most memorable couples have been same-sex, and I’m so happy to have been invited to photograph their big day.

When will we see our photographs?

All my work is refined in post-production, and I take pride in giving all my couples the best possible presentation of the day. You’ll receive a sneak peek within 24-48 hours, so you can share the day with loved ones who weren’t able to attend. For the full collection, you’ll receive an invitation to an online gallery within 6-8 weeks.

Will you require a contract and retainer?

Yes. After we meet and determine it’s a good fit, I will draft up a contract outlining everything we discussed. If all looks good, all I need is a signed contract, as well as a 50% retainer, and then your wedding date is all yours!

Are you insured?

Yes, I carry general liability and equipment insurance through TCP. Please let me know if your venue needs a certificate of insurance.
